The first screen that did not become final

Our first concept helped establish Paperlore’s look. The screen layouts still needed testing.

Editorial pencil illustration of three early jigsaw-game screens
Editorial illustration inspired by an early concept, not a historical screenshot.

On August 11, we saved our first sheet of three game screens. The working title was simply “Puzzles”: choose a picture, choose a difficulty, then assemble a fox. The warm paper background, dark green and terracotta were already there.

We wanted to see how the game might look as a whole. The concept had no ads, coins or daily rewards. Choosing a picture and taking your time with it was the main activity on screen.

Why we paused

A drawing cannot tell you whether a piece is easy to pick up with a finger. Where should loose pieces go? How do you move the board without accidentally dragging a joined group? The sheet left those questions open. We kept it as concept v0 and went back to rough layouts we could test in a prototype.

Surviving early concept: three screens of a mobile fox jigsaw game
Archived concept v0 from August 11, 2026. An early hypothesis, not Paperlore’s final interface.

The archived sheet below shows that starting point. Some of its visual choices survived in Paperlore; the layout changed as we worked on the controls.
